Off-Site, On Call
Calling an Off-Site Doctor
- An additional Doctor is needed in A&E to cope with an emergency
- Doctors use an on-site paging system that does not work once they go home
- Administration staff could phone all possible Doctors, but sending a text message to all of their mobiles using SMS Responder saves vital time
- The list of Doctors receiving the SMS, and the actual text sent, can be set up in advance to suit the nature of each type of emergency. Those on holiday or on secondment to other regions etc. can be automatically excluded
- Two Doctors phone in to say they can assist, and they discuss with the Administrator which one should attend
- The Administrator sends another text message to all of the other Doctors informing them that cover has been found
